In-Sight Photography Project Brings Film Based on Classic Native- American Novel to Brattleboro

Brattleboro, VT – In-Sight Photography Project is honored to announce its selection of the yet-to-be-released Neither Wolf Nor Dog as the second feature in its “Great Pictures” Film Series. Adapted from Kent Nerburn’s award-winning novel of the same name, the film tells the story of a Caucasian-American writer who finds himself drawn by a 95-year-old elder of the Lakota tribe into the heart of contemporary native-American life in the sparsely populated, challenging lands of the Dakotas.

Roaring Fire Films’ Neither Wolf Nor Dog will be shown at the Latchis Theater in Brattleboro on Sunday, December 11 at 4 p.m. The film runs 110 minutes. In-Sight asks for a donation at the door of $10, with a suggested student donation of $5. All proceeds are in support of In-Sights Exposures Cross-Cultural Youth Arts Program.
Photographer John Willis, co-founder of In-Sight Photography Project and its Exposures Cross-Cultural Youth Arts Program, which has strong ties to the Pine Ridge Reservation, said, “We have taught with the book for many years. Readers from 11 years old to those considerably older have come to appreciate the great job it does to raise awareness about cross-cultural perceptions and about our perception of “normal” as a cultural construct of our own community. I am always struck by how strongly the Lakota people appreciate Kent’s understanding of their culture. A movie based on his perceptions and power as a storyteller should be every bit as enlightening and enjoyable.”

Since its founding in 1992 by Brattleboro area photographers John Willis and Bill Ledger, In-Sight Photography Project and its Exposures Cross-Cultural Youth Arts Program empower young people ranging in age from 11 to 21 to find their own creative voices and to communicate their unique personal visions through photography. In-Sight is a private non-profit supported by donations, grants and fundraising. Classes in photographic arts are provided regardless of participants’ ability to pay. The curriculum is guided by understanding and respect for individuals, their communities and their cultures. visit www.insight-photography.org
