Book Recommendations Wanted

A question for any and all keeping posted through iputney:
For someone looking for reading ideas, what titles would you recommend?

I'm certainly interested to see what people like. Please post comments if you've got something to say on this subject! My tastes tend toward historical fiction, accurate fiction and ... good fiction! I consider nonfiction sometimes, if it doesn't look too dry, especially if it's science related. Does anyone know of a good read? Titles? Authors? Thanks!

Good Natural History Book
Authored by: ian_gillespie on Saturday, September 25 2004 @ 08:03 AM EDT
Well this recommendation certainly isn't fiction, but it is science based. I
recently read:

"Reading the Forested Landscape:natural history of New England", by Tom
Wessels (sp?).

I am rather new to the area and this was a great introduction to New
England's forests and how passed and currenty human occupancy has really
shaped the forests we see today. It was a quick read and even has some
nice pictures in it.

PUtney Library Book Discussion Group book
Authored by: Paul LeVasseur on Sunday, September 26 2004 @ 11:31 AM EDT
hi martha,

i can recommend When the Emperor was Divine by Julie Otsuka. it's our next book discussion selection for the putney library book group. it's historical fiction about a family placed in a japanese internment camp in the second world war. "...a novel about loyalty, about identity, and about being other in America during uncertain times." i'm about half way through and enjoying it very much.

we will discuss this book at the library on sunday, october 10, 7-8:30 pm. hope you can join us!
