Wanted: Nontraditional Schoolhouse for a Nontraditional SchoolDo you have an underused space in the Putney area that you would be willing to share with a small group of community-minded students and teachers for the 2011-12 school year? We are flexible and open to creative arrangements. Currently based in Chester, VT, The Journey School is a very small, democratically run alternative learning community for students age 6 – 16. We anticipate a move to Windham County in August 2011 and are in need of a free or inexpensive classroom space. The ideal location will include: several rooms to use as classrooms, a kitchen, a small office, and access to a beautiful outdoor space. High-speed internet capability would also be great.
We are willing to arrange a barter or work-trade (Community service projects? Landscaping? Free classes for your child?) in exchange for rent. Our classes run from September until the end of May, so a vacation home or guesthouse might work. Students are on campus Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and one Friday per month, between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm, so we are also open to a shared space. If you are an artist, musician, healer, etc. and have a space you would be willing to open up, please let us know! If you are passionate about holistic, student-centered learning and have any ideas or support to offer, please don’t hesitate to contact us: (802) 952-8061 or lisasmusicgarden@comcast.net
