Putney Farmers' Market Opens Sunday, May 27th
The Putney Farmers' Market begins its 20-week season this Sunday, May 27th, from 12-3 pm. The market is located near the corner of Route 5 and Carol Brown Way, across from the Putney Food Co-op.This year we welcome many new vendors, and we're so excited to have an assortment of new and enticing items at market. Wood grilled, sourdough crust pizza, handmade tacos and tortillas, art pottery, goat's milk soap, and gluten-free baked goodies are just a sampling of the many things you'll find, each Sunday in Putney.
Your local farmers' market is the best place to buy seedlings and garden starts, and first-of-the-season produce. The Putney Farmers' Market is no exception! We are excited to welcome these new farms: Harmony Circle Farm (Putney), Green Meadow Farm (Marlboro), and Dwight Miller & Son Orchards (Dummerston). Returning farms include Lost Barn Farm (Putney), High Meadows Farm (Putney), and Sowing Peace Farm (Westminster West).
This Sunday, join Chef Ismail Samad for "Shop with the Chef," a cook's tour of the farmers' market followed by a seasonal cooking demo. Ismail is one of two chefs behind "The Gleanery," a Community Supported Restaurant venture in Putney. He'll be on hand for the first 5 markets to answer your questions about this up-and-coming project.
Jackson Emmer and Sam Moss of String Band will provide old-time, foot-stomping musical enjoyment. The Morris Dancers will perform from 12:15-1:15, on the corner of Alice Holway Drive. Go to our website, putneyfarmersmarket.org, and check the Calendar of Events page, to find out what's happening from week to week.
