Putney Art & Craft Cooperative

Hello, my name is Enza Putignano. Recently, I have returned to this area, that of my childhood, so as to lay down roots and raise my young son in a creative, supportive community. For weeks now, the question foremost in my mind has been what do I wish to offer or participate in within the community of Putney. And now, as I form new connections and open myself up to the pulse, what comes to me is the calling for a cooperative of artists and crafters. Putney is ripe for this on all sides. Although, at this time, I have few ties to Putney's art community, I myself am a creative being who wishes deeply to help expand options for other creative beings interested in offering or selling their art and wares. To do so as a not for profit, community sponsored cooperative feels to be the most empowering, heart felt way I can imagine. There seems to me, little reason this could not thrive and add greatly to the lives of many. Please, email me, enstarza@hotmail.com, let us meet and begin this design!

There's been conversation about it, specifically in the River Valley Credit Union building.  Daniel Hoviss did a bunch of work, but, in the end, the project needs someone who's got a whole lot of energy and doesn't need a whole lot of money to move with it.

There are many varied pieces of art work available at the Stained Glass Studio right on Main Street.Any chance of expansion there?

So many views and so few comments! It is I, the poster, Enza. This week I have been reaching out to local artists asking if they feel they would be interested in participating in this venture. I have a meeting this week with Daniel Hoviss, who in the past did much work on a project of this sort. Soon, I will begin looking at sites, as overall, it seems the funding of such a project is the biggest question of all. Please, art and art loving folk, let me hear from you. There can be no cooperative without cooperation! Thanks, Enza

Ensa

This is a great idea, and a wonderful vision, which may lead to a Putney renaissance spuring more collabratives at other venues much like MASS MOCA has sparked over 20 galleries and studios in North Adams MA.

I know that there are many interested people! I think TRANSITION Putney would be interested and I know Discover Putney is interested.

As you know arts and crafts can be made with wide range of materials and items so it is exciting to think about all the crafts people that could potentually be able to sell their goods. In addition to the Putney Craft tour, there are numerious artists, potters, wood workers and weavers that may like to be part of this.

I hope that we can work together, happy to help, and share resources.

Good luck - talk soon, and get a login!

-Daniel
