Healing with Art: Community

Many artists share their art and creative process in special ways with members of the community. What is the function of the art itself in this sharing process? How are the community members enriched by this sharing? And what gifts does the artist receive back from this experience? Healing with Art: Community is a part of the Arts Council of Windham County’s year-long series focused on exploring connections between art and healing. Admission is free, and the public is warmly invited. Individuals are invited to stay afterwards for an opportunity to mix and mingle with the artists. The forum is presented by the Vermont Arts Council and the Arts Council of Windham County (ACWC), and is co-sponsored by The Brattleboro Retreat. This event will feature artists whose creative work interacts in various ways with members of our regional community. Come experience their art and the ways that this art brings about positive transformation for the community members they share it with—as well as enriching the artists. This event will feature: Eric Bass, Sandglass Theater; Verandah Porche, Poet-in-residence, Performer & Writing partner; Laura Lawson Tucker & Darlene Jenson, New England Youth Theater; Jana Zeller, Spybird Theater; The Hallowell Singers who will share their experience of being with the dying and their families through song
