Park and Ride

From Jeanette White

I am writing this in response to the email to the energy list from Daniel Hoviss. I attended the hearing and felt that I should respond to some of the concerns for the benefit of those who couldn't attend.

This park and ride has been in the planning stages, and identified as a high priority for at least 11 years. As far as I know there are no formal studies to determine best size - the need and size was determined by standard traffic counts, use of other park n rides in the state and population. As was pointed out by AOT, the federal government has some formula but it really doesn't work in Vermont.

Formal objection to proposed park and ride in Putney

As a resident of Putney, abutter to properties adjacent to the proposed park and ride, town energy coordinator and chair of the Putney Energy Committee, I have the following concerns;

1. An 83 spot park and ride is just too large for our town, other area park and rides are less than half this size. Why supersize it?
This large project is not needed in Putney, considering that there is adequate parking in town and the surrounding lots.
2. The park and ride project has had no study performed that would justify such a large project. Terms such as “if you build it they will come” are not a substitute for a real study.

HP G6-2235US LAPTOP

I do not like Windows 8. So I haven't used this computer in the three months since I bought it. It may not be new, but it certainly isn't "used," either.

HP G6-2235US LAPTOP (AMD A6-4400m processor, 2.70 GHz, 640/750GB hard drive (not sure which), 4GB RAM). Price includes a 2-year STAPLES service contract (beginning 6/12/13) and a free STAPLES tune-up. Reformatted to factory settings (some software may be available). $450.

Cheryl Wheeler and The Nields at Next Stage on Friday, September 20

Next Stage Arts Project and Twilight Music present folk singer, songwriter and comedienne extraordinaire Cheryl Wheeler plus folk/rock sister duo The Nields in concert on Friday, September 20 at 7:30 pm at Next Stage, 15 Kimball Hill in Putney, VT.

It has always seemed as if there were two Cheryl Wheelers, with fans of the New England songwriter relishing watching the two tussle for control of the microphone. There is poet-Cheryl, writer of some of the prettiest, most alluring and intelligent ballads on the modern folk scene. And there is her evil twin, comic-Cheryl, a militant trend defier and savagely funny social critic. As the poet and comic forces join, taking their separate turns and melding into the same artistic vision, Wheeler emerges as a delightful, gifted and openhearted performer.
