Autumnal Moonrise & Sunset Atop Putney MountainTuesday, September 25 2012 @ 08:30 PM EDT Contributed by: Anonymous Views: 126
The Putney Mountain Association presents:
Autumnal Moonrise & Sunset Atop Putney Mountain with Louise Garfield - Friday, September 28--5:45 PM at the top of Putney Mountain The night before the September full moon, the Corn Moon, is a perfect opportunity to watch the sun go down over the Vermont hills to the west, and the moon rise over the New Hampshire hills looking east. Official sunset time is 6:36, and moonrise is 5:37, but each orb has natural obstacles that have the effect of a marvelous near-sychronized event that can be seen from the summit of Putney Mountain. Louise seeks full moon rises at sunset wherever she goes, having learned of the coincidence in her studies at Hampshire College in the 1970s. She looks forward to hearing others' stories. We hope for clear skies for perfect viewing; call 387-5548 for questions (or check the http://putneymountain.org for an alternate date). Carpool, park and climb the mountain on your own. Bring a flashlight for the descent. Putney Cares Walk For Healthy Aging Saturday Sept 29 10amTuesday, September 25 2012 @ 07:53 PM EDT Contributed by: Anonymous Views: 225
