The Putney School's Winter Concert This Weekend

The Putney School's Community Orchestra, Madrigals, Jazz Combo, and Dance Ensembles will perform in the Michael S. Currier Center's Calder Hall on Saturday and Sunday evenings, December 3 and 4, starting at 7:30 p.m. The musical offerings are as varied as the groups. For dance, expect to enjoy numbers from The Putney School's modern, ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and Afro-modern performers. All are welcome and admission is free. Villa Casa Art House

Hello lovers of the visual ! Appears there's a new Art venue up on Kimball Hill ! Villa Casa Art House is currently showing "Seeing In Black & White... Albrecht Durer to John Doe", a visual journey into the grey scale with offerings in Drawing, Photography, Etching, Collage, and even the interactive... On December 3rd we'll be hosting a Holiday Gourd Ornament Workshop for kids of all ages, from 1pm to 3pm...$10 per elf please.
There's bound to be other happenings at Villa Casa Art House too, so keep an eye out ..."Under" 24 Kimball Hill...if the sign is out, we're home ! Come and see us!

Eric Bass: Looking Outside Yourself

Landmark College begins its fall speakers series, ART, EMPATHY and SOCIAL CHANGE, on Wednesday, September 21st, with a presentation
by Eric Bass titled Looking Outside Yourself.

Mr. Bass has worked in the theater for thirty years as a director, playwright, performer, mask and puppet maker.

Last year Mr. Bass and his wife, Ines Zeller Bass, founders of Sandglass Theater in Putney, received Vermont’s highest honor in the arts, the Governor’s Award for Excellence.

2nd Annual Making Art in Paradise – A Caribbean Workshop in Writing & Clay Sculpting Jan. 9-17, 2012

Painting The Garden with Kathy Anderson

Monday & Tuesday, August 15 & 16, 2011 9:00 a.m. — 4:00 p.m. $225
Location: Village Arts of Putney, 114 Westminster Road

This workshop will take students out into the garden at Village Arts to paint en plein air. Students will work on how to block in, simplify, and compose from a complex subject. If weather doesn't cooperate outside, Kathy will set up a complex floral arrangement inside, and work on the same elements.

Kathy Anderson is an award winning artist who's work is in collections throughout the country.

Painting from Life with Jack Keledjian

Tuesdays, twice per month 9:00 a.m. — 4:00 p.m. $75 per day
July 12 - landscape July 26 - floral
August 9 – portrait August 23 – still life

Painting From Life provides artists and students the opportunity to study with award winning Putney Painter, Hagop Keledjian. In these classes, participants acquire a taste of the technical, emotional, and intellectual approaches to oil painting from life through still lifes, portrait and landscape painting. These sessions include demonstrations, 1:1 instruction and critiques.

Putney Artists in Residence call for maps and printers!!

Hi all! We are looking for ways to print up to 500 copies of an 18 X 24 inch map of Putney that we are creating. Please send suggestions for a good print shop in the area that might be willing to donate or give us a reduced rate or let us know if you have a large format printer.

Vermont Open Studio Weekend-May 28, 29

Vermont Weaving School offers Natural Dyeing Workshop-June 4, 5

Learn the basics of natural dyeing in this jam packed, two day class. Fiber preparation, mordanting, immersion dyeing using concentrated natural dye extracts, and overdyeing with indigo will be covered. (Suitable for all fiber enthusiasts; weavers and non-weavers.)
