Putney State Rep Reports on Opening of 2013 Legislative Session

2013 Legislative Update Jan. 17,2013 - Rep.Mike Mrowicki

The 2013 Legislative Session started with the Governor's Inaugural address focusing on education as an economic driver. House Speaker Smith's opening speech stated Vermont should be a leader in working to address Climate Change, since the Federal Government doesn't appear ready to make this a priority.

The Governor's plan recognizes our economy is generating good, clean, well paying jobs. Their concern is finding enough Vermonters who have the technical background for these jobs. The governors plan; more support for early Ed, focus on STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, math), dual enrollment (high-school students in college level classes with credit for both) and more financial aid for Vermonters in Vermont college.
