JACQUES BREL AT HOOKER-DUNHAM

BRATTLEBORO, Vt. – The Hooker-Dunham theater will be hosting the musical revue Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris,” Friday, Nov. 6 at 8 p.m.
Main Street Arts in Saxtons River has mounted the production under the directorship of David Stern, who is friends with Matt Blau, owner of Fireworks restaurant and the son of Eric Blau, who created the revue in 1968 with Mort Shuman. It ran for four years Off-Broadway and has since been performed by thousands of theater groups around the world. Matt Blau’s mother Elly Stone was also the principal singer in the original production.
The revue is based on the music and lyrics of Belgian-born singer/songwriter Brel, considered a master of the modern chanson
The show has already been performed at Popolo restaurant in Bellows Falls, Vt., and MSA, and will be at Fireworks in Keene Sunday and Monday, Nov. 8 and 9 and MacLaomainn’s Scottish Pub in Chester, Vt., Thursday, Nov. 12.
