Little Shop of Horrors at Main Street Arts

The musical “Little Shop of Horrors” opens Thursday, June 29 at Main Street Arts for a three-night run. Shows are Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee Saturday at 2 p.m.
The popular show by composer Alan Menken and lyricist Howard Ashman features four stages of a carnivorous plant named Audrey II that grows increasingly ravenous as it consumes bigger and bigger prey. Its greed for flesh and blood is matched only by its grower’s greed for the profits his employer’s flower shop experiences from its new-found celebrity.
In spite of its theme, the show offers moments of humorous campiness and pathos.
Tickets are $18 for adults and $8 for youth 12 and younger in advance or $20 and $10 at the door and can be purchased online at mainstreetarts.org or by contacting MSA at (802) 869-2960 or info@mainstreetarts.org.
