The Putney School: Spring Music Gala on Wednesday May 25th

The Putney School Spring Music Gala will be on Wednesday, May 25th at 7:30 PM. The event is free and open to the public.

The orchestra, conducted by Musical Director Cailin Manson, will play The Carnaval Overture by Antonin Dvořak. The Chamber Orchestra is will perform Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 by Johann Sebastian Bach—featuring Fernanda Perera on violin, Amara Cunningham on flute, and Gordon Jones on harpsichord— and The Pastorale by Howard Hanson—featuring Zhunran Jason Zhong on oboe and Zheng Biao Ji on harp. Madrigals will sing a range of a capella music: a Renaissance nativity motet — O magnum mysterium by Tomas Luis de Victoria, “The Paper Reeds By The Brooks” from The Peaceable Kingdom by Randall Thompson, two movements of the Magic Songs by Raymond Murray Schafer, and a choral arrangement of The Beatles hit Back In The USSR.
