Write Action ReadOUT! at Putney Library: The Work of African American Poets
On Thursday, February 16th at 7pm, three writers, Toni Ortner, Terry Hauptman, and Andy Burrows will read the work of African American poets at Putney Public Library. In addition to well-known poets, like Alice Walker, Dudley Randall, Audre Lorde and Langston Hughes, the group will also read innovative and startling work by Amiri Baraka and rapper Tupac Shakur. The readers are all members of Write Action, a Brattleboro-based nonprofit group that supports writers in New England.

A discussion and sharing time will follow the reading. Please bring a favorite poem by an African American poet to share or just come to listen. This event is part of the Putney Public Library’s February series celebrating African American History Month. For a full schedule of events, look online at putneylibrary.org

Putney Library is located at 55 Main Street in Putney, VT. This program is free and open to the public.
