Annual Postal Carriers “Stamp Out Hunger” Drive for the Putney Foodshelf

Saturday, May 13th is the day nation-wide that postal carriers will pick up a bag of donated nonperishables YOU place at the base of YOUR mailbox. if you see them, thank them! This adds a lot of time to their already busy work day — and the Foodshelf really appreciates it! Peanut butter, spaghetti sauce, tunafish, beans, soups, rice, are all items we stock on our shelves.

Eating is, hopefully, a daily activity — but for too many of our neighbors, the question of where the next meal is coming from is unclear. The Putney Foodshelf supports about 75 households supplying over 1,000 lbs. of food weekly. Fortunately, our faithful Postal Carriers help us with their Stamp Out Hunger Drive.

The Foodshelf has events all year and this one is key. Food supplies are currently low as we segue from the January Stuff the Bus event and PCS food drive to when our gardeners begin to drop off freshly grown produce. Help us by purchasing, bagging, and leaving food at your mailbox on May 13th. Thanks!
