CALL FOR POETRY & PERFORMERS: CLIMATE CHANGE & THE ARTS 2015
an evening of poetry, music, dance and art

Post Oil Solutions, continuing its innovative efforts to raise awareness about the growing climate crisis, is organizing Climate Change & the Arts, an evening of poetry, music, and dance that will be held on the evening of Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the Hooker Dunham Theater in Brattleboro. An art exposition will also be held in the Hooker Dunham Gallery.

Members of the literary, visual and performing arts communities of Windham County, both professional and amateur, interested in contributing their time and talent are invited to answer our call for poetry and performers. Poetry or short prose: Submission deadline is February 1, 2015. Individuals of any age or education level are encouraged to submit. Some of the poems/prose selected will be used for the choreography and performance of poetic-dance, others will be incorporated into the event through live readings or print. Music: Professionals and talented amateurs with a repertoire of music reflecting the theme of climate change, as well as instructors interested in getting their students involved, are invited to apply to perform. Dance: SOBO Studio will be choreographing several poetic-dances, and is eager to collaborate with other dancers. Those interested should contact Linda Brown at rise.up.vermont@gmail.com for more information.

Art: Local youth aged 8 to 18 are invited to submit their creations for consideration in the accompanying educational art exposition: “Daily Do-ables: Attitudes & Actions for Change”. Submissions can be individual or collaborative efforts, done independently or through local schools, art institutions, groups, and clubs. Theme and submission guidelines, plus resources for inspiration will be made available on the event website by January 1st.
