The Bandwagon Summer Series continues its celebration of music, culture, and community with the Celtic & Québécois Music Festival on Monday, Sept. 7, at Scott Farm in Dummerston. Featuring performances by Poor Man’s Gambit, Cantrip, and Cécilia, the all-ages outdoor festival invites audiences to experience the vibrant traditions of Celtic and French-Canadian music through three distinctive and dynamic acts.
The festival begins at 3:00 p.m., with gates opening at 2:00 p.m. at Scott Farm, located at 707 Kipling Road in Dummerston. Tickets are available at nextstagearts.org for $28 in advance or $32 at the gate. Children under 12 are admitted free.
Opening the afternoon’s festivities, Poor Man’s Gambit brings a rich blend of traditional and contemporary Irish music, combining storytelling, history, and dance with a diverse array of instruments and both male and female vocals. Their performances create a layered experience that connects audiences with the heart and spirit of Irish culture.
Known for their energetic and adventurous sound, Cantrip delivers a high-powered take on Celtic music, blending driving rhythms and intricate melodies with influences ranging from funk and metal to bluegrass and beyond. Decades of collaboration have shaped the trio’s genre-defying approach, resulting in performances filled with musical intensity and playful creativity.
Cécilia brings the warmth and exuberance of traditional Québécois music to the stage, pairing masterful musicianship with step dancing and influences from classical, jazz, and contemporary styles. Their joyful performances celebrate the cultural richness and expressive power of French-Canadian traditions.
Together, these three acts create an afternoon of rhythm, heritage, and celebration, highlighting the ways traditional music continues to evolve and inspire new generations.
The Celtic & Québécois Music Festival is part of the Bandwagon Summer Series, a family-friendly outdoor cultural performance series running from June through September. Featuring a wide range of musical styles, puppetry, and circus arts, Bandwagon performances take place at ballfields, farms, and parks throughout Putney, Brattleboro, and Bellows Falls.
Kids under 12 always attend free, and every Bandwagon event features a dedicated play area for younger attendees. Refreshments, including a bar and food from local vendors, are available onsite. Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic, blanket, or fold-up chair and enjoy live performances in a relaxed outdoor setting.
