PUTNEY — Twilight Music and Next Stage Arts continue the 23rd season of Twilight on the Tavern Lawn with a free outdoor performance by the Emily Margaret Band on Sunday, July 12, at 6 p.m. on the Putney Tavern lawn, 133 Main Street.
Led by vocalist and songwriter Emily Margaret, the band blends R&B-flavored pop, jazz-rock, and soulful storytelling into a captivating live experience. Praised by Seven Days for her “dynamic, velvet-soft voice,” Emily Margaret brings warmth, depth, and emotional nuance to original songs that showcase both her songwriting and the ensemble’s skilled musicianship.
In addition to original material, the band pays tribute to some of its musical inspirations with interpretations of songs by artists including Amy Winehouse, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder, and Bill Withers. The result is a performance that combines intimate vocals, expressive arrangements, and songs that linger long after the final note.
The Twilight on the Tavern Lawn series features an eclectic lineup of folk, world, jazz, zydeco, bluegrass, pop, and Americana music. Concerts take place every other Sunday through Aug. 23 on the Putney Tavern lawn in downtown Putney. Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
In the event of rain, concerts will move indoors to Next Stage Arts, 15 Kimball Hill. The series is free and open to the public, with donations welcome. Food will be available on site.
Twilight on the Tavern Lawn is made possible through support from Next Stage Arts, the Town of Putney, and numerous local businesses and organizations. For more information, visit nextstagearts.org.
