Eva Nolan for WSESD school board

My name is Eva Nolan; I’m running for one of 2 Dummerston WSESD school board seats, representing all the schools in our district. I have two boys, ages 2 and 5, who will enter our schools. Along with graduating with a B.A. in Criminal Justice from Eastern Nazarene College, I have worked extensively with Boston Area Rape Crisis Center. I received counseling and support training with BARCC and additional training to become a Volunteer Educator in Community Outreach, Awareness, and Prevention Education. During my time with BARCC, my outreach included having conversations and training about sexual violence, rape culture, how to be a positive bystander, and ways we as a community can create change and support survivors. In particular, I reached out to colleges, hair salons, community centers, and marginalized people of color surrounding Boston who needed access to services. In my personal life, I practice transcendental meditation and am working to complete a 200-hour yoga teacher certification.

If elected to the board, I would aim to foster an environment free from bullying and harassment for every child in the district. Children can thrive in learning when all their basic physical and emotional needs are met. I bring fresh eyes and a calm, collaborative approach. I would enjoy working as a team with the board, administrators, teachers, and students.
