Adam O’Farrill Quartet – Emerging Artist Series
Saturday, April 29th
8 pm
O’Farrill, a brilliant trumpeter, took 3rd place in the Thelonious Monk Competition and received two ASCAP awards. His father is Grammy award winning pianist/composer Arturo O’Farrill; his grandfather the legendary Chico O’Farrill, composer/ arranger for Benny Goodman and Dizzy Gillespie.
Adam’s talent and abilities combined with his strong character and his father’s continuous message to stay true to his vision have served him well.
He is a focused, creative musician who has surrounded himself with other brilliant, like-minded individuals and created a new paradigm, a new music, and unique composing style that is musically engaging, energetic, surprising and humorous.
This quartet includes his brother Zack on drums, saxophonist Chad Lefkowitz-Brown and bassist Walter Stinson. Their new album Stranger Days received positive reviews from the NY Times, NYCity Jazz Record and All Music Guide to Jazz.
