AT LATCHIS THEATRE FEATURES FILM’S CO-STAR AND BRATTLEBORO ACTOR CASEY METCALFE Matinee Screening Includes Raffle for Cast-signed Basketball, Posters, and Q&A with Casey Metcalfe After the Show Screening Raises Funds for Three Local Inclusive Nonprofits: Theatre Adventure, NEYT, and Special Olympics BRATTLEBORO, Vermont (March 4, 2023) – Vermont actor Casey Metcalfe, who graduated from both Brattleboro Union High School and New England Youth Theatre in 2015, will be back in his hometown at the Latchis on Sunday, March 12th to emcee a special fundraiser screening of Champions, a film that stars Woody Harrelson and features Casey in a major supporting role. The 4 p.m. matinee benefits three local and inclusive non-profit organizations: Theatre Adventure, a troupe composed of actors with intellectual disabilities; New England Youth Theatre, and Special Olympics/Vermont. Woody Harrelson and Kaitlin Olson are the stars of Champions, a Focus Features film, due out March 10th. Woody plays a minor-league basketball coach, who is court-ordered to manage a team of players with intellectual disabilities. He soon realizes that despite his doubts, together, he and this team can go further than they ever imagined. After securing the part of Marlon, one of the team members, Casey spent two months in Canada, filming with Woody, Kaitlin, and other cast members including Cheech Marin (of Cheech and Chong), Ernie Hudson, and Matt Cook, as well as nine other team players with intellectual disabilities who are now lifelong friends. Brattleboro audiences will have the opportunity to meet Casey in person and win raffle prizes that include a basketball signed by the cast, and movie posters signed by Casey. Tickets will be available the day of the show at the box office beginning at 3 p.m. Prices are: $25 for a raffle and movie ticket. $20 for raffle ticket only $7 matinee ticket for those who don't want to enter the raffle According to Latchis Arts Executive Director Jon Potter, no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
