[Framed] Series presents: Icarus at Next Stage
Next Stage Arts Project’s October edition of [FRAMED] will feature the Academy Award-winning documentary Icarus on Thursday, October 25, 2018  at 7:00 pm.  The West Hill Shop will introduce the film and hold a Q & A following the screening. Admission is by donation at the door. There is a beer and wine cash bar. Icarus is a 2017 (Impact Partners) American documentary film by Bryan Fogel, which chronicles Fogel’s exploration of the option of doping to win an amateur cycling race and happening upon a major international doping scandal when he asks for the help of Grigory Rodchenkov, the head of the Russian anti-doping laboratory.[1] It premiered at Sundance Film Festival on January 20, 2017, and was awarded the U.S. Documentary Special Jury Award (Orwell Award). At the 90th Academy Awards, the film won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. For anyone concerned with not just doping in sports but also the current international geopolitical climate, this documentary is a must-see. —Brian Costello, Common Sense Media The West Hill Shop, which is hosting this event, is an historic Putney institution that specializes in cycling and Nordic skiing. Founded in 1971, West Hill has been owned by locals Jim and Diny Sweitzer since 2004. [FRAMED] is a presentation by Next Stage Arts Project.
