Holiday party for BrattleMasters
It's party time on Thursday, Dec. 12 when BrattleMasters gather for their only December meeting. It's at 6 p.m. in Room 249, Vermont Technical College, 41 Harmony Place, Brattleboro. Although the holiday party will include pot-luck food, there won't be a lack of verbal word-smithing by those present. Members are from New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Vermont including members from Putney, Dummerston, Guilford and Brattleboro. The mission of a Toastmasters club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every individual member has the opportunity to develop oral communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth. The speeches, reports and evaluations are designed to help speakers identify their strong and weak points so they understand where to focus their efforts. Normally, the local Toastmasters club meets the second and fourth Thursdays of the month, but because of the December holidays, there won't be another meeting until Jan. 9. The organization's membership exceeds 358,000 in more than 16,800 clubs in 143 countries.
