Join Brattleboro Harmonia: Sing this Spring!
This spring marks our 30th Anniversary spring semester and with that comes a bold rebrand and a heartfelt farewell to founder Becky Graber, who celebrates her final season as Musical Director. Future Musical Director, Anna Patton, will co-direct this spring. To honor these milestones, Brattleboro Harmonia (formerly Brattleboro Women's Chorus) invites new singers to join us. Our first rehearsals on Thursday, March 5 are open for new singers to come and check out the chorus to see if it is a good fit for them. Advance registration is required via our website (though you are not obliged to join for the full semester). Rehearsals are held Thursday mornings from 10 am - noon at the Brattleboro Music Center, or Thursday evenings from 6:30 -8:30 pm at First Congregational Church in West Brattleboro. Evening rehearsals are required for those who want to sing in our Mother's Day concert at the Latchis Theatre, while morning rehearsals are for more relaxed (while equally fun) singing, without the pressure of concert preparation. Brattleboro Harmonia welcomes women and non-binary/gender queer folks, ages 10 and up, whose vocal range comfortably includes the A in the middle of the treble staff (soprano, alto, and tenor ranges). Whether you are a seasoned vocalist or have only ever sung in the shower, Brattleboro Harmonia welcomes singers of all abilities. The chorus utilizes the oral tradition—teaching most music by ear through repetition and joy—making the experience both accessible and powerful. Advance registration for the March 5th Open Rehearsals is required via the website. For those who choose to join for the full season, tuition is offered on a sliding scale ($85–$180), with financial assistance readily available to ensure community singing remains accessible to all. All singers are required to register to sing at www.BrattleboroHarmonia.org.
