Poetry Discussion Group
Join us this Saturday 7 Dec for the monthly Poetry Discussion Group, 12-2 pm, Brooks Memorial Library, Brattleboro, VT. For December we are reading the poems of Yevgeny Yevtushenko.
From the Poetry Foundation: “As with several other poets of his generation, Yevtushenko had the odd distinction of being a celebrated dissident during a fairly repressive time. This notoriety brought him some success, leading to performances in packed stadiums and frequent reading tours abroad, but also left him open to criticism from both the Soviet government and those that felt his criticisms didn’t go far enough.”
Copies of the poems are provided. Admission is free, and the discussion is open to all; no experience or preparation necessary.
