Photographer Michael Poster and BMAC Chief Curator Mara Williams discuss the exhibit If she has a pulse, she has a chance, on view through January 7, 2019.
Poster’s intimate photographic and narrative portraits of individuals in recovery reveal the people and stories behind the disease of addiction. These are some of the fortunate few who, though they have suffered the effects and consequences of addiction—whether to opiates, alcohol, or other substances—have survived with help from people who refuse to give up on them. Poster’s work explores the trauma and the obstacles his subjects have experienced, but also the hope and strength they have found in themselves and their community during their journey.
This event is sponsored by the Brattleboro Retreat and supported in part by the Vermont Arts Council and National Endowment for the Arts.
