Green Commons Hosts Second Forum on Development of Putney Property!

Green Commons of Vermont was formed in an effort to preserve a 1.2-acre plot of land located in the heart of Putney. For more than a decade this land has been home to the Putney Community Garden and the Putney Farmers’ Market. Currently, the Windham Windsor Housing Trust (WWHT) is in the process of purchasing the parcels from Gateway Associates     This past summer, community members came together because we recognized the vital importance this parcel has as a piece of agricultural and community commons. Green Commons of Vermont and WWHT have been working together to create a community village, and have agreed to divide the property. Green Commons will buy a parcel, thus thus keeping it a community hub for Putney! We are in the process of negotiating this deal, filing for nonprofit tax-exempt status, and on the precipice of launching our fundraising campaign in order to purchase the land!
Green Commons of Vermont is dedicated to the idea of creating open commons, with dreams of identifying and conserving other community green spaces! We are run by a board of volunteers, and are in need of community support to purchase this land, maintain it, and further our organization’s goal!
Join us for a forum on Wednesday, December 9th, 7-9pm via zoom!
This forum will be a Q&A format with Green Commons board members, with the aim to answer all your questions, concerns, and to create collaborative opportunities! We will talk about the current status of the land acquisition, and dream with you about future work! Come with questions and a community spirit!
