Labor Film Festival Screens Films about Immigrant Workers in Vermont

The Labor Film Festival continues on September 13 at 4 P.M. at the Latchis with a screening of two films about immigrant workers in Vermont. The 2013 documentary “Hide” takes viewers inside the daily lives of several migrant workers from Latin America who sustain Vermont’s dairy farms. It is paired with “La Liga,” which shows how sport fosters community among immigrant workers in Vermont, and shines a spotlight on their struggle for economic justice.

The panel immediately following the screening will feature a Migrant Justice worker, along with co-director of “La Liga” Mac Christopher of Guilford, and a representative of AFT-VT’s campaign to bargain for the common good. Moderator will be John Field of Putney.

The program will take place at the Latchis Theater, 50 Main St., Brattleboro and is sponsored by the Vermont State Employees’ Association and Vermont AFL-CIO. Admission is by donation. All donations will benefit Migrant Justice.
