Laughs Take Center Stage at Next Stage Arts with the Return of Vermont Comedy All Stars – June 20

PUTNEY, VT — Get ready to laugh until it hurts! On Friday, June 20 at 7:30 pm, Next Stage Arts will be shaking with laughter as Gordon Clark and his Vermont Comedy All Stars return for another unforgettable evening of stand-up comedy. This all-star lineup of local and regional talent is guaranteed to bring the house down in one of southern Vermont’s most cherished performance spaces.

Vermont Comedy All Stars Live Stand-up Comedy Showcase
🗓 Friday, June 20 @ 7:30 pm
📍 Next Stage Arts, 15 Kimball Hill, Putney
🎟 $12 Advance / $15 at the Door
🎫 Tickets & info: nextstagearts.org

This month’s show is part of Next Stage’s 15th Anniversary Celebration, where each event honors two “Next Stage Champions.” At the June 20 show, Lyssa Papazian and Barry Stockwell—two incredible individuals who have helped shape the organization’s success—will be recognized for their contributions.

But the spotlight that night will be shared with a powerhouse lineup of comedians:

🎤 Ang Buxton returns after bringing the house down at Next Stage in 2024. This Springfield, MA-born comic is high-energy, sharp, and delightfully absurd. With credits including the Rise Festival in Denver, P3 Comedy Festival’s “Queer of the Year,” and performances from Vermont to Washington State, Ang (@bux_wild) is a must-see.

🎤 Maddie Cross, a Burlington-based finalist in the 2023 Vermont’s Funniest Comedian competition, brings a unique blend of wit and insight drawn from her D.C. roots, higher-ed career, and secret twin powers. She’s opened for Phil Hanley, Jackie Kashian, and Laurie Kilmartin.

🎤 Neil Goldberg, a Vermont native (and former Next Stage staffer!), delivers “unexpectedly intelligent” comedy shaped during the solitude of the pandemic. He’s hit stages from Vermont Comedy Club to NYC’s Gotham Comedy Club.

🎤 Pierre Vachon may be the only comic you’ll ever meet who’s also a wrestler, hypnotist, and actor. With appearances on MTV and at Scotland’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival, his high-octane style is as memorable as it is hilarious.

🎤 Matt Vita, who splits time between NYC and Vermont, is a stand-up comic and freestyle rapper with a comedy résumé that includes the Vermont Comedy Festival, New York Comedy Club, and opening for Colin Quinn and Kevin McDonald. His feature film Killington hit Amazon Prime last year.

🎤 And holding it all together is host and Vermont Comedy All Stars founder Gordon Clark, a comedy late-bloomer who proves it’s never too late to make people laugh. His passion for both activism and humor makes him one of the region’s most beloved emcees.

This showcase is not only a night of non-stop laughs—it’s a celebration of community, creativity, and fifteen years of Next Stage Arts changing the cultural landscape of Putney and beyond.

Mark your calendars, grab your tickets, and bring your friends. Laughter really is the best medicine—and on June 20, the prescription is ready for pickup at Next Stage.
