Preventing Teen Rx Misuse for Teens and Teen Influencers

Did you know that 1 in 20 Windham County high-school students reported they had misused a prescription pain reliever or stimulant in the past 30 days? Brattleboro Area Prevention Coalition offering a presentation to build awareness, to educate and to equip teens and teen influencers (parents, grandparents, teachers, coaches, community and school-based healthcare providers and others) with credible information about teen prescription drug abuse and effective strategies to take action to help prevent it.

We all have a role in reducing youths’ access to prescription medications and increasing youth’s perception of harm. The presentations provide an informal space of sharing and peer support. The knowledge and skills participants will develop is intended to increase their level of confidence and comfort during conversations with teens and peers.

The presentation will be held at Putney Central School on Wednesday January 13th from 6-7:30 PM. Refreshments will be offered. Teens and adults will be presented to separately.
