On Sunday Feb. 2nd from 1:00-4:00 pm.The Putney Library invites everyone to celebrate our beautiful building’s 20th birthday and honor two decades of community engagement in this space. Yes, there will be cake and balloons and if one cake isn’t enough, the library is also hosting a cake contest where patrons can vote for their favorite design. Interested bakers can obtain more information at putneylibrary.org/cake .
On this festive day, the children’s area will host storytelling, face painting from 1:30pm-3:30pm, and a birthday-related art project; weather permitting there will be outdoor activities, a warming fire, and hot cider. Adults can follow a timeline of the library’s six homes and relive the building project with photos of the construction and the folks who made it happen. Patrons can also give the library a birthday present by purchasing from a list of specially selected adult and children’s books. Each gift book will feature a celebratory book plate with the donor and honoree’s names. Library patron or not, please join in the festivities to celebrate this special library and the vision and community support that made it a reality.
