Job Posting: Library Director – Putney Public Library.
The Board of Trustees of the Putney Public Library seeks an innovative, dynamic, and experienced library professional to serve as Library Director. Under the general direction of the Board of Trustees, the Director is responsible for planning, organizing, reviewing and directing all library activities, blending traditional and innovative strategies in the use of materials, programs, technology, and space. The Library Director oversees the daily operations of the library, develops the collection of materials and library programs, implements library policies, procedures, short and long range goals, directs and performs public relation activities, supervises staff, helps develop and administer the budget, liaisons with town manager and oversees the maintenance of our beautiful building and grounds.
- A Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited school preferred;
- Five years of progressively responsible library supervisory experience or equivalent;
- Knowledge of principles and practices of library work, automated library systems, and use of library resources and information technology optimal.
Must have excellent customer service skills, the ability to communicate effectively and must possess excellent technology skills.
This is a full time 35 hours/week position starting January 1, 2015. The salary range is commensurate with experience and includes a full benefit package.
