If you’ve never played in a chess tournament before, this is a great opportunity to try it out. I run the chess club up at UVM, and I’m directing 5 tournaments in Putney this summer (the first was on May 28th). The hope is to get more chess in Southern VT and provide a good environment for people to try it out. There are two sections: Open for more experienced players and U1100 for newer players and the scholastic crowd.
This tournament will take place on Sunday, June 18th. This is the second part of a 4-tournament series. The first in the series was on May 28th, the latter two will be on July 9th and August 13th (all Sundays).
Format: 4SS G45+5, two sections Open & U1100. USCF membership required.
Schedule: Registration 9:15-9:45. Rounds at 10, 11:45, 2:30, 4. Between round 2 and 3 will be ample time to get lunch.
Entry fee: $10 advance entry if both form and payment are sent by June 16th. On-site / late registration: $20. Send entry fees via PayPal to firstname.lastname@example.org or Venmo to @collinshayden.
Location: Putney Community Center. 10 Christian Square, Putney VT.
Prizes: $50 to Open 1st, $30 to Open 2nd. $50 to U1100 1st, $20 to U1100 2nd. $50 set aside for overall series prize fund.
