Canine Good Citizen Class
This is a four-week class that focuses on all of the 10 skills that are tested in the American Kennel Club’s (AKC) Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. The CGC program stresses responsible pet ownership for the handlers and basic good manners for the dogs. This class will help teams work through the distractions of other people and dogs while doing calm greetings, downs, stays, recalls and more.
Skills that are included on the test and which will be worked on during the CGC classes include loose leash walking, sitting politely for petting, accepting a friendly stranger, sit, down, stay and recalls as well as the ability to remain calm with another dog nearby on leash.
Working toward the CGC test is an excellent format for training your dog. The official CGC test will be scheduled at Breeze Thru several weeks after the conclusion of this class. All dogs that pass the 10-step CGC test will earn the CGC title and receive a certificate from the AKC. For more information on CGC go to: www.akc.org/events/cgc
