Known as “The Beehive Queen” for her signature mile-high platinum hairdo, Christine Ohlman is a powerhouse of American rock and soul. Best known as the longtime vocalist for NBC’s Saturday Night Live Band, she most recently appeared in the SNL 50th Anniversary telecast in February 2025. With her band, Rebel Montez, Ohlman brings her fiery energy and deep musical roots to the hills of Vermont for a family-friendly, can’t-miss performance.
A Bronx native now based in Connecticut, Ohlman has long been a vibrant presence in the music scenes of Muscle Shoals, New Orleans, and Nashville. Her critically acclaimed sixth album, The Deep End, was hailed on numerous national Top Ten lists and featured legends like Levon Helm, Dion, and Ian Hunter. Her most recent release, The Grown-Up Thing (2024), continues to showcase her soulful, roots-based songwriting.
Ohlman’s career reads like a walk through music history. She’s performed or recorded with everyone from Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie Raitt, and Keb’ Mo’ to Brian Wilson, Steve Miller, and Dr. John. She’s appeared on The Tonight Show, HBO’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame concert, and the Carnegie Hall Tribute to The Rolling Stones. Her voice even graced Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, singing with the Rolling Stones on “Out of Time.”
Her band—Chris Bickley on guitar, Michael Colbath on bass, and Lorne Entress on drums—is stacked with talent and experience, having performed with the likes of Johnny Winter, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and Big Al Anderson.
This concert is part of the Bandwagon Summer Series, a traveling cultural performance series that brings world-class talent to outdoor venues across southern Vermont from May through September. With shows at farms, ballfields, and parks in Putney, Brattleboro, and Bellows Falls, the series offers music for all tastes in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Kids under 12 always get in free, and each show includes a dedicated children’s play area. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring a blanket, picnic, or folding chairs to enjoy the evening.
In addition to the performance, attendees can enjoy refreshments on-site, including food from 802 Soul Kitchen, as well as the return of the much-loved Barr Hill cocktails.
So gather the family, pack a picnic, and don’t miss this chance to experience the legendary Christine Ohlman up close and under the stars.
