The 79th annual Putney School Harvest Festival is on Sunday, October 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The day kicks off with the 5K “Red Leaf Ramble” running race (registration at 8:30 in the Field House). The International Cafe, with foods cooked by students from around the world, is open 11:00 to 2:00. There will be a sword exhibition and Mummers Play at 11:15. Games and races on the East Lawn (behind the Currier Center) commence at noon. At 12:45 there’s a parade, followed by contra dancing at 1:00 on the East Lawn. Join us for an all-school sing, featuring the Putney Community Orchestra, in Calder Hall at 2:00. And all day long there are crafts booths, fresh produce, and community groups serving tasty grilled food and baked goods, plus enough freshly pressed apple cider to wash it all down. No charge for parking, admission, or, if you’re a kid, all the bouncy house, bouncy slide, and bouncy obstacle course fun you can handle.
