Thurs. June 28th at 11am–Puppet and Music Show to Kick off Summer Reading at the Library!

On Thursday, June 28th at 11am, the Putney Public Library will kick off the youth Summer Reading Program with an amazing puppet and music show for all ages by Modern Times Theater! Modern Times Theater founders Rose Friedman and Justin Lander create their handmade wooden and papier mache puppets for a modern Vermont update production of the age- old Punch and Judy puppet shows, which follow the troubles and travails of puppetry’s favorite loudmouth, Mr. Punch. The program features live music, sing-a-longs, classic jokes and gags, and audience participation. Live acoustic music is performed on a variety of instruments – from the ukulele to the bicycle pump. Join us for watermelon on the back patio after the show!
Kids can also sign up for Putney Library’s Summer Reading Program, a self-paced non-competitive reading program that will keep your family reading through the summer! This year’s Summer Reading theme is Libraries Rock! This summer, we’ll be busy reading and making sweet music with free programs for kids and their families. Join us every Wednesday and Friday starting July 6th for special story times, guests, and fun activities! Come help us construct a giant stringed instrument, work on your own drum and kazoo, learn what tuning forks can teach us about sound, and hang out with special musical guests for awesome sing-alongs! See the full schedule at: or pick up a schedule at the Putney Library. All of the programs are completely free and open to everyone.
Come join us, enjoy a great show, have some snacks, and sign up for a program that will keep your children engaged in literacy activities for the summer!
