Update: Rehabilitation of US Route 5 Bridge Over Sacketts Brook

Progress on the rehabilitation of Bridge 15 over Sackets Brook located along US 5 continues. The preliminary plan milestone is complete (30% plans) and the project will be advertised in the fall of 2019 for summer 2020 construction. The scope of the project includes a superstructure replacement (deck and beams) during a 10-day short term road closure. The adjacent pedestrian bridge will remain intact and will not be addressed with this project. At this time, VTrans is seeking input on the proposed bridge railing which consists of a historic concrete/steel combination rail. VTrans is proposing to eliminate the bridge rail between the vehicular and adjacent pedestrian bridge, so rather that 3 bridge rails, there will be two. This will facilitate rapid construction and create open sight lines. Please contact Jonathan Griffin, the project manager, with any comments or questions you may have by Friday, November 18, 2016.
