The Vermont Comedy All-Stars return to Next Stage Arts in Putney for an evening of live stand-up comedy on Friday, September 25, at 7:30 pm.
Hosted and produced by Gordon Clark, the showcase features comedians Chris Dolan, Tim Lovett, Toni Nagy, and Kane Thomley, bringing together performers from Vermont and around New England for a night of sharp observations, offbeat humor, and plenty of laughs.
Chris Dolan has been performing comedy throughout the Upper Valley and New England for more than two years. A regular at Sawtooth Kitchen in Hanover, NH, and Brightside Brewing at the Lebanon City Airport, Dolan is a former high school history teacher whose academic specialty was modern European history and the rise of fascism—so, naturally, she left teaching for comedy because she wanted to feel like her work mattered.
Tim Lovett has been a fixture on the Western Massachusetts comedy scene since 2014. He has performed at the Broadway Comedy Club in New York City, Mohegan Sun Casino, and Funny Bone Comedy Club, and has opened for nationally known comedians including Michael Yo and Joe List. He has also shared the stage with Mike Epps, Donnell Rawlings, Jessica Kirson, and Talent Harris.
Lovett is the founder of Comedy as a Weapon, a production company dedicated to supporting both emerging and established comics, and the owner of the Chuckling Charlie Comedy Bus, which brings live stand-up comedy on the road throughout Massachusetts.
Toni Nagy is a stand-up comedian, podcaster, and content creator known for viral videos combining social commentary, interpretive dance, and what she describes as “twerking against tyranny.” She has amassed more than one million followers across social media and has toured nationally as a stand-up comedian for the past decade. Among her proudest accomplishments: Elon Musk once tweeted that she “seems dumb” because of her political beliefs.
Kane Thomley, originally from Alabama and now based in Burlington, has performed at the Vermont Comedy Festival and hosted for national headliners including Dulcé Sloan, Emily Catalano, and Maddy Smith at Vermont Comedy Club. His other interests include petting cats on their soft little heads and eating gelato.
The evening is hosted by Gordon Clark, director of the nonprofit Vermont Comedy All Stars. Since 2020, Clark has produced more than 120 stand-up shows around Vermont, including recurring series at Nectar’s in Burlington, Bent Nails Bistro in Montpelier, Zenbarn in Waterbury, Shelburne Vineyard, and Next Stage Arts.
The Vermont Comedy All-Stars Live Stand-up Comedy Showcase takes place Friday, September 25, at 7:30 pm at Next Stage Arts, 15 Kimball Hill in Putney. Doors open at 6:45 pm.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door and are available at nextstagearts.org.
